MATS FOR THE HOMELESS
Update on the progress of making the mats. The “kickoff” meeting was on September 5th and there were 12 souls who came to see what this was all about; the next meeting was September 19th and there were 11 souls who came to learn the next step in the mat making process. Five different churches have been represented at each meeting. The exciting part about the second meeting was that the Methodist Children’s Home was represented and the young ladies are so eager to learn and serve others, and their goal is to have a mat made by Christmas. The next meeting is scheduled for October 3rd at 5:30 pm. You do not need to know how to crochet – assembly line is needed to fold bags, cut bags, and make the “plarn”. When you hear a shout when someone finally “gets” how to start making the mat, it brings joy and smile to those in the room. Hope to see you on the 3rd of October.

Wednesday, October 18th, is the date for MOSS. The speaker will be David Vardeman who will present a program on Native Americans and this is a very visible presentation.
